Hey, I\u2019m all for helping out someone I used to be in a relationship with<\/a>\u2026<\/p>\n

You also have to factor in how much time has passed since you broke up and what they\u2019re asking from you.<\/p>\n

In today\u2019s story, a man explained why he\u2019s not too crazy about the idea of helping his ex with her request\u2026.after they\u2019ve been done for 5 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI bought a house 6 years ago and the grandma of my girlfriend at the time had old furniture (a couple patio chairs, a night stand, an old coffee table, a tiny dresser, and a beer pong table) sitting around in storage in her basement so she offered them to me for my new house.<\/p>\n

Now, 5 years after that, my ex and her cousin are texting me and telling me (not asking me) that they are coming to get it back.<\/p>\n

First off, I find it ridiculous that this is happening now and not 5 years ago.<\/p>\n

Secondly, I find it ridiculous that they are being so rude about it.<\/p>\n

If it was so important, why didn\u2019t they take it when we broke up? Or shortly after?<\/p>\n

I have mentioned all of these things to them.<\/p>\n

The responses back have just been rude and condescending.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I don\u2019t feel I am obligated to give it back, but regardless, I said they can have my ex\u2019s brother come pick it up with his truck but that I\u2019m not moving stuff around in my schedule to accommodate, nor am I helping carry any of it out.<\/p>\n
