Footballing legend Terry Dyson has died aged 91, with his old club Tottenham<\/a> Hotspur F. C. paying tribute.<\/p>\n The icon\u2019s death was confirmed by the Premier League club<\/a> this afternoon (Thursday, August 20). Former winger Dyson made 209 appearances and scored 55 goals for Spurs<\/a> across a ten year spell.<\/p>\n Spurs fans will know Dyson as the emblem of their team\u2019s glory days in the 1960s, being part of their 1961 Double-winning campaign. He is to this day, the only Spurs player<\/a> to ever score a hattrick in a North London derby against bitter rivals Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ex-Tottenham Hotspur players Joe Kinnear and Terry Dyson(Image: Tottenham Hotspur FC via Getty Images)<\/p>\n \u201cThe club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of our former player Terry Dyson at the age of 91,\u201d a Tottenham statement read. \u201cTerry was a key part of our Double-winning side in 1961, scoring in the FA Cup Final. He also scored twice in the 1963 European Cup Winners\u2019 Cup Final. Our deepest condolences are with Terry\u2019s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.\u201d<\/p>\n Dyson was an integral member of Bill Nicholson\u2019s 1960-61 who became the first English team in the 20th century to achieve a First Division and FA Cup Double.<\/p>\n One of his finest moments came two years later as he scored two goals in a 5-1 victory over Atl\u00e9tico Madrid, securing a European Cup Winners\u2019 Cup success.<\/p>\n Dyson returning home with the European Cub in 1963(Image: Mirrorpix)<\/p>\n Dyson played for Fulham, Colchester and Guildford after a distinguished spell at Spurs.<\/p>\n Speaking in 2020 about his famous North London derby hattrick, Dyson said: \u201cOne of them hit my hand. It bounced up, hit my hand and I lashed it in and the Arsenal players went mad.<\/p>\n \u201cThey ran after the referee but he never saw it. I didn\u2019t do it deliberately but it hit my hand and I just lashed it in. To get a hattrick was brilliant and nobody has done it since. There was a header, a left foot and a right foot.
