Moody&#8217;s downgrade continues to grip the bond market with the 30-year Treasury yield surging past 5% Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/19\/us-treasury-yields-moodys-downgrades-us-credit-rating.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hitting levels not seen since November 2023<\/a>. Bridgewater Associates founder and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/19\/ray-dalio-says-risk-to-us-treasuries-greater-than-what-moodys-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">billionaire Ray Dalio warned<\/a> that the U.S.&#8217;s lower sovereign credit rating understates the threat to U.S. Treasurys, saying the credit agency isn&#8217;t taking into account the risk of the federal government simply printing money to pay its debt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/19\/trump-tariffs-jpmorgan-chase-ceo-jamie-dimon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also cautioned<\/a> that markets are too complacent on tariffs, and expects S&amp;P 500 earnings growth to collapse as companies pull or lower guidance amid trade policy uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>On the trade negotiations front, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/19\/china-us-trade-tariffs-chip-huawei.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China <\/a>accused the U.S. of undermining the two countries&#8217; preliminary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/15\/china-trump-trade-deal-export-controls.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trade<\/a> agreement, after the U.S. issued an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bis.gov\/media\/documents\/general-prohibition-10-guidance-may-13-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">industry warning<\/a> against using Chinese <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/15\/us-discloses-details-on-chips-probe-as-it-prepares-new-tariffs-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chips<\/a> that singled out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/30\/nvidia-ceo-jensen-huang-says-china-not-behind-in-ai.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Huawei<\/a>. The benchmark added 0.09% to mark its sixth consecutive winning session. The Nasdaq Composite inched up 0.02%. Shipments are then routed through shell companies that will fail to pay tariffs, default and cease operation. He has pitched to share the costs of hosting U.S. troops in the allied country \u2014 bundling negotiations on trade, tariffs, and defense cost-sharing into a single comprehensive deal.<\/p>\n<p>Seoul has been sharing defense costs since 1991 in three areas, namely logistics, local labor, and military construction.
