{"id":116128,"date":"2025-05-20T04:21:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T04:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/116128\/"},"modified":"2025-05-20T04:21:13","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T04:21:13","slug":"watch-3076-smurfs-come-together-to-break-world-record-in-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/116128\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch: 3,076 &#8216;Smurfs&#8217; come together to break world record in France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 19 (UPI) &#8212; A small town in France succeeded in its third Guinness World Record attempt by hosting a gathering of 3,076 people dressed as Smurfs.<\/p>\n<p>The town of Landerneau, in France&#8217;s Brittany region, had attempted the world record for the most people dressed as Smurfs twice before, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Odd_News\/2019\/02\/18\/Nearly-3000-Germans-don-Smurf-costumes-for-Guinness-record\/3321550499852\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fell short of the record<\/a> of 2,762 people, which was set in Germany in 2019.\n<\/p>\n<p>The town <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=1042926871142379\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">made its third attempt<\/a> Sunday with official backing from Paramount Pictures ahead of the release of the film Smurfs on July 18.<\/p>\n<p>The Smurfs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Entertainment_News\/Movies\/2025\/05\/14\/smurfs-trailer-rihanna-song-friend-of-mine\/9691747235928\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">were created by<\/a> Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford, aka Peyo, in 1958.
