A planning application has been lodged to build a new giant employment park on green belt land on the edge of Birmingham<\/a>, which could create up to 6,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n IM Properties, the firm behind the Peddimore site in Sutton Coldfield<\/a>, which currently has Amazon as its sole occupier, has submitted applications to both North Warwickshire<\/a> Borough Council and Birmingham City Council<\/a> for a new \u00a3343 million industrial site nearby.<\/p>\n \u2018Thrive\u2019 is a proposed business park which would sit north of Curdworth and south of Wishaw and The Belfry, close to junction 9 of the M42.<\/p>\n Read more: New details on huge \u2018urgently needed\u2019 employment park on edge of city confirmed<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n At 135 hectares, it would be twice the size of Peddimore and aims to attract \u2018high-quality advanced manufacturing, R&D (research and development) and logistics\u2019.<\/p>\n The site will have a whopping three million square feet of industrial space with property developer, IM Properties, saying a \u2018minimum of 30 per cent of the site is being promoted for advanced manufacturing\u2019.<\/p>\n The aim is for the site to be a \u2018much-needed new destination for high-skilled jobs across the automotive, aerospace, rail manufacturing, low carbon and digital technologies sectors\u2019.<\/p>\n It will have \u2018dedicated\u2019 space for \u2018entrepreneurial, high-technology start-up businesses, leading advanced manufacturers and high-value logistics companies\u2019 in a \u2018landscaped parkland setting\u2019.<\/p>\n IM Properties has said Thrive will create between 4,400 and 6,000 new full-time jobs when it is fully occupied.<\/p>\n And has said the site is \u2018urgently needed\u2019 with an estimated one year\u2019s supply of employment lane left in the key M42 corridor.<\/p>\n The sites are needed to \u2018support the growth of current businesses and attract future investors to the region\u2019 IM Properties says.<\/p>\n Read more: Concerns raised over second huge employment park plan on edge of town<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n It is boosting the site\u2019s eco credentials saying it will help occupiers move from fossil fuels to all-electric operations, with energy-efficient \u2018Passivhaus\u2019 standard buildings \u2013 the \u2018first industrial units in the UK\u2019 to meet the criteria.<\/p>\n They will be encouraged to be net zero in operation \u2018where viable\u2019.<\/p>\n And a central green corridor leading to a \u2018mobility hub\u2019 with eco-friendly transport options such as buses, bicycles, e-scooters, and smart electric vehicle charging stations.<\/p>\n Half of Thrive would be \u2018dedicated to green and blue infrastructure\u2019 with a network of accessible open spaces and lakes which will feature \u2018community orchards and allotments, trim trails, play space and areas of reflection for use by site occupiers and the community alike\u2019.<\/p>\n Lewis Payne, development director at IM Properties said: \u201cAgainst a challenging global economic and geopolitical backdrop, the West Midlands needs a new employment site to support domestic high quality advanced manufacturing, R&D and logistics.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is vital to securing a resilient, diverse local economy, and at a time when opportunities for many people in Britain are limited, it\u2019s also about ensuring we can create skilled jobs and deliver wider social value.<\/p>\n \u201cThrive is central to supporting the region\u2019s industrial strategy and it can create significant new job opportunities across North Warwickshire, north east Birmingham and north Solihull<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more: I visited \u2018forgotten\u2019 village enclosed by industrial parks & it\u2019s getting worse<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n![\"A](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/0_image008.png\")
