The Danish Football Union “DBU” confirmed today, Friday, that it will not back Gianni Infantino in the upcoming elections for the presidency of the International Federation of Association Football “FIFA”, stressing that his tenure has triggered a “fundamental crisis of confidence” towards the organisation’s leadership.<\/p>\n
Fresh criticism has followed Infantino over his project, later abandoned, to privatise part of the World Cup.<\/p>\n
According to the Danish Union, that attempt caused a “fundamental crisis of confidence towards FIFA’s leadership”. It noted that “the subsequent apologies” and “the withdrawal of the proposal” did not change its position.<\/p>\n
The DBU withheld its support from Infantino at the last elections in 2022, and it will do the same at the elections scheduled for 18 March 2027, during FIFA’s 77th Congress in Rabat, Morocco.<\/p>\n
