The programme has created extra consulting and clinical rooms, with the ICB saying the changes will help practices increase appointment capacity and improve access to care.<\/p>\n
Lincolnshire practices received more than \u00a31.2m through the fund, while the wider Midlands secured more than \u00a318m. Across the region, the investment is expected to provide capacity for a further 2.6m appointments.<\/p>\n
The ICB said GP practices in Lincolnshire delivered 5,888,183 appointments across 81 practices during 2025\/26.<\/p>\n
The improvements form part of a wider drive to move more healthcare into communities and reduce pressure on hospitals.<\/p>\n
The Government has also announced a 10-year capital development plan for the NHS, with a health capital budget due to rise to \u00a315bn in 2029\/30.<\/p>\n
Ministers say the long-term programme will fund repairs, new facilities, technology upgrades and other projects intended to modernise the health service.<\/p>\n
Health minister Karin Smyth said patients and staff deserved \u201cmodern buildings, reliable equipment and services fit for the future\u201d.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cToo many NHS buildings are crumbling and outdated. This government is taking the long-term decisions needed to rebuild the health service.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Government says it has already funded almost 800 upgrades to GP surgeries across England, creating space for an estimated nine million extra appointments.<\/p>\n
A further \u00a3200m will support more GP surgery expansion and modernisation.<\/p>\n
The capital plan also commits the Government to delivering 250 Neighbourhood Health Centres, bringing GPs, diagnostic tests, community services and other care together under one roof.<\/p>\n
It also includes at least \u00a36.75bn over nine years to repair hospitals, replace unsafe buildings and tackle maintenance backlogs.<\/p>\n
Other proposals include improving the NHS App, introducing a Single Patient Record and investing \u00a3650m in genomics over five years.<\/p>\n
The Government says wider NHS reforms have helped waiting lists fall by more than 400,000 since July 2024, while patient satisfaction with GP access has risen to 76%.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Investment in GP surgery buildings across Lincolnshire could create capacity for about 338,000 extra appointments each year.
