Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that a teenage boy has been arrested following a large fire at Weston-super-Mare<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old was arrested by officers on Saturday (August 22) on suspicion of arson. He remains in police custody.<\/p>\n

Avon Fire and Rescue<\/a> Service were called to a fire near Locking Farm Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday (August 18), with police closing part of the A371 Locking Road as a result.<\/p>\n

The road later reopened, but several businesses were severely impacted by the fire that damaged industrial units, emergency services said.<\/p>\n

Early fire investigation work was carried out and concluded the cause had likely been deliberate.<\/p>\n

Detectives leading the police investigation say they have carried out a number of actions over recent days, including house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.<\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police are urging anyone who can help with enquiries to complete an online appeals form<\/a>, or call 101 and give the call handler reference number 5226232390.<\/p>\n
