A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being stabbed in the back. Merseyside Police<\/a> were called to Marsh Avenue in Bootle<\/a> at around 7pm on Monday, May 19.<\/p>\n

It followed a report a teenager had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital for treatment of stab wound to his back, which is not believed to be life threatening.<\/p>\n

A cordon was in place <\/a>near Stone Square and Marsh Avenue until around 10pm on Monday. Eyewitnesses said there were several police cars and forensics at the scene.<\/p>\n

Detectives said they believe the victim may have been on a bike and was attacked in Stone Square before making his way to Marsh Avenue. He was then given first aid by members of the public before paramedics arrived.<\/p>\n

In a statement, detective sergeant Dave Smith added: “It is not known how many people were involved in the attack and I would appeal to anyone who may have information to come forward.<\/p>\n

“Crimes scene investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are underway. Officers will also be examining CCTV footage in a bid to establish the circumstances leading up to the investigation.<\/p>\n

“I would urge anyone who saw anything to come forward, I would also appeal to drivers who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with us so we can identify those responsible and put them before the courts.”<\/p>\n

He added: “There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people storing, carrying or using weapons.<\/p>\n

“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence or call Crimestoppers anonymously.”<\/p>\n
