{"id":1166322,"date":"2026-08-24T09:27:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1166322\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T09:27:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T09:27:19","slug":"ericsson-mtn-group-fintech-expands-momo-across-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1166322\/","title":{"rendered":"Ericsson, MTN Group Fintech expands MoMo across Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ericsson and MTN Group Fintech have completed the Mobile Money (MoMo) Evolved Migration across several key African markets, including Eswatini, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the two companies are now working on similar modernisation projects in other markets.<\/p>\n<p>An initiative is already underway in Cameroon, while discussions are progressing on bringing Benin, Republic of the Congo and Zambia onto the same transformation path.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobileeurope.co.uk\/\/subscribe-mea\/?utm_source=Content+Snippet&amp;utm_medium=website&amp;utm_campaign=Subscribe&amp;utm_id=Newsletter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><br \/>\n  <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 100%; display: block;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Newsletter-aug26-MEA-mobile1.gif\" alt=\"Sign up to our weekly newsletter\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Selected OpCos are also looking at opportunities to move to public cloud, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobileeurope.co.uk\/tag\/ericsson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the telecoms giant <\/a>revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Built on the Ericsson Fintech Platform, the projects are helping MTN MoMo move away from its legacy virtualised environment to a standardised, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobileeurope.co.uk\/category\/content-categories\/cloud-nfv\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cloud-native architecture. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The move is expected to improve performance and operational efficiency, while creating a more flexible and scalable foundation to support MTN Group\u2019s Ambition 2030 strategy and the continued growth of digital financial services across Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The new platform provides a highly available environment that can scale as MTN MoMo grows.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade has also made the platform simpler to operate and more responsive.
