Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> boss Henrik Pedersen has confirmed George Brown will stay with the club until January at least as he continues his recovery from injury.<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> saw George Brown<\/a> emerge in the first-team picture last year. The 20-year-old impressed in his jump up to senior football, but ended up missing the majority of the campaign through a hamstring injury and subsequent setback<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The SWFC talent remains on the comeback trail, with Henrik Pedersen<\/a> confirming to The Star<\/a> he hopes to return in six to eight weeks. Wednesday\u2019s boss was asked about a potential loan move for Brown this season too, to which he replied: \u201cLet\u2019s see when he starts to be fit again.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has to be really, really fit again, so he can get a body who can train week after week with higher intensity, so he can get this fitness again what he needs to play, and then we\u2019ll see when he comes so far where where he is. But he will be here for sure to January.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> are wise to take their time with George Brown after a tough 2026<\/p>\n

Brown\u2019s rise has been a rapid one. He only joined Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> from local youth setup Leeds UFCA in 2024 and debuted in the Carabao Cup against Leeds United<\/a> before announcing himself on the Championship stage.<\/p>\n

The young striker scored on his full debut in the 2-0 win over Portsmouth<\/a> and netted two games later away at Birmingham<\/a> City too. It prompted real excitement among SWFC fans, only for his season to be effectively ended shortly after by his hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

After such an absence, the Owls have to take their time with Brown\u2019s return to action. Their patience will hopefully pay off, allowing him to return at full tilt. From then, they will decide whether to keep him around Pedersen\u2019s squad or to sanction a loan for the second half of the season.<\/p>\n

If they opt for the latter, Brown will have no shortage of admirers. The depth in Pedersen\u2019s attack could mean such a move is best for his return to fitness and development.<\/p>\n

The Verdict: The future is bright with Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>\u2019s striker prospects<\/p>\n

As touched on before, Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> have plenty of depth at the top of the pitch. And, excitingly, Brown is not the only promising prospect to have emerged last season.<\/p>\n

Will Grainger<\/a> is another starlet held in very high regard. He has impressed over the summer after breaking through last year and has retained a place in the SWFC squad over the early stages of the campaign.<\/p>\n

In him and Brown, Wednesday have two young strikers who could grow to be valuable assets for the club. There will be patience over the development of both players, especially given Brown\u2019s injury and the fact that Grainger is still just 17.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, they give fans reason to be excited for the future as they look to play a role in Wednesday\u2019s journey back from League One.<\/p>\n
