Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> have had a mixed start to life back in League One after they were relegated from the Championship. However, the David Storch and co era<\/a> is just getting started and after 14 new signings, SWFC are not done yet.<\/p>\n

According to reporter Joe Crann via The Wednesday Word<\/a>, The Owls are still hoping to bring in a new striker this summer. One man on their radar is Ipswich Town<\/a>\u2019s Ali Al-Hamadi, a player that SWFC have a strong interest in.<\/p>\n

Al-Hamadi was on-loan in League One with Luton Town<\/a> last term, but scored just one goal after joining in January. He did go to the FIFA World Cup<\/a> with Iraq, featuring in all three of their games.<\/p>\n

Al-Hamadi\u2019s move to Ipswich Town<\/a> has failed to produce the impact many expected after his impressive breakthrough at AFC Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The striker moved to Ipswich in January 2024 after scoring 23 goals in 42 League Two appearances. He made 14 Championship appearances during Ipswich\u2019s promotion-winning campaign, scoring four times, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.<\/p>\n

Al-Hamadi made history in August 2024 when he became the first Iraqi player to feature in the Premier League. However, opportunities remained limited and he was loaned to Stoke City<\/a> in January 2025.<\/p>\n

A further loan move to Luton Town<\/a> followed last season, but injuries restricted him to just 13 League One appearances and one goal. Now back at relegated Ipswich, Al-Hamadi faces an uncertain future, with his promising career yet to translate into sustained success at Portman Road.<\/p>\n

A move to a big club like Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, could be a massive risk for Al-Hamadi. However, a permanent move to a new home, such as SWFC, is just what the Ipswich Town<\/a> man needs.<\/p>\n

The Verdict: Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> must get their striker signing right<\/p>\n

Henrik Pedersen has Jamal Lowe, Mason Burstow<\/a>, Harry Gray and Will Grainger<\/a> to choose from in attack. Gray and Burstow started Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>\u2019s win over Bolton Wanderers<\/a>, with Lowe coming off the bench to score. <\/p>\n

Grainger\u2019s emergence appears to have contributed to Charlie McNeill heading out on loan<\/a>, potentially creating space for another forward such as Al-Hamadi. The 17-year-old is highly rated at SWFC and should see opportunities throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n

Lowe is the most experienced of the quartet, while Burstow brings valuable know-how after helping Bolton Wanderers<\/a> secure promotion last season. Leeds United<\/a> loanee Gray, meanwhile, looks ready to build on an impressive youth career and promising half-season spell with Rotherham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n
