{"id":1168687,"date":"2026-08-25T15:04:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T15:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1168687\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T15:04:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T15:04:22","slug":"edinburgh-flight-diverted-after-early-morning-technical-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1168687\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh flight diverted after early morning \u201ctechnical issue\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/2022\/05\/ryanair-begins-new-flight-from-edinburgh-to-nimes\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"410895\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FLIGHT<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/2026\/01\/record-numbers-at-edinburgh-airport\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"629156\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Edinburgh<\/a> to Portugal was forced to make an emergency landing in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Seville\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seville<\/a> on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flight left Edinburgh around 7.15am but its captain issued a 7700 squawk general emergency code shortly before it was due to touch down in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Faro,_Portugal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Faro, Portugal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The captain set the plane down in Seville, more than 120 miles from its destination and passengers disembarked safely in the Andalusian capital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although an emergency code was used, and emergency services met passengers as they disembarked, a spokesperson for Ryanair made clear the issue was \u201cminor\u201d and inline with standard procedure.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"664\" data-attachment-id=\"299425\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/ryanair-photo-martin-p-mcadam-www-martinmcadam-com\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/theedinburghreporter.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/EDI2011untitled-3436.jpg?fit=1200%2C797&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"1200,797\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-title=\"Ryanair. McAdam<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They added: \u201cThis flight from Edinburgh to Faro (24 Aug) diverted to Seville due to a minor technical issue before landing normally at Seville Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPassengers disembarked and the aircraft was inspected by our engineers.
