{"id":117024,"date":"2025-05-20T12:15:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T12:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/117024\/"},"modified":"2025-05-20T12:15:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T12:15:09","slug":"ferrari-demand-stop-to-lewis-hamilton-f1-form-overreactions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/117024\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrari demand \u201cstop\u201d to Lewis Hamilton F1 form overreactions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur wants what he feels are overreactions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\/1070647\/1\/lewis-hamilton-points-out-calm-team-radio-subtle-riposte-critics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lewis Hamilton<\/a>\u2019s performances in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> F1<\/a> 2025 to end.<\/p>\n<p>The seven-time world champion has had an up and down start to life at Ferrari since making his blockbuster switch from Mercedes over the winter, with the Italian squad enduring a dismal start to their campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari were tipped as being McLaren\u2019s nearest challengers before the season began but are already 165 points adrift of the reigning world champions after seven rounds in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from taking pole position and winning the China sprint race, and finishing third in the Miami sprint, it has been a largely frustrating season for Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old Briton produced an impressive recovery drive from 12th at Imola to claim fourth place as he beat teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/889402\/charles-leclerc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charles Leclerc<\/a> for the first time this season with a result which marked his highest-finish in a grand prix for Ferrari.<\/p>\n<p>But Vasseur is cautious about reading too much into Hamilton\u2019s results as he continues his adaptation at F1\u2019s most famous team after 12 seasons with Mercedes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have to stop this where if Lewis has a good weekend everything is perfect or if it&#8217;s not a good weekend, everything is a disaster,\u201d Vasseur said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery single driver is working on himself, working with the team, trying to develop something, trying to do a better job.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not that the Saturday evening he\u2019s not well prepared, not in good condition with the car, and Sunday he\u2019s a magician and everything is perfect. We just have to stay calm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor sure that we need to improve the communication, the understanding of the process and the tools and the software and everything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut honestly he did a very good job in China, he did a very good job today, step by step we will be there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/XPB_1346257_HiRes.jpg\" alt=\"Lewis Hamilton \" width=\"3774\" height=\"2516\" loading=\"lazy\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Lewis Hamilton<\/p>\n<p>  <strong>Lewis Hamilton using 2025 as \u2018foundation-building\u2019 year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While Hamilton believes there is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\/1070713\/1\/lewis-hamilton-teases-more-come-after-something-ive-fixed-ferrari\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cmore to come\u201d <\/a>from Ferrari, he acknowledges it may already be too late to salvage the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p>As such, Hamilton is focusing on using 2025 as a \u201cfoundation-building year\u201d to be fully prepared for the major regulation changes that will arrive in F1 in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if time is running out to turn Ferrari\u2019s season around, Hamilton admitted: \u201cIt really is. At least from my side, this is a foundation-building year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting to grips with everything within the team, making changes that we need to do to help the team navigate to success long term.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s stuff that I\u2019m focused on in the background.
