A new Netflix<\/a> series from Friday Night Dinner creator Robert Popper has been announced as part of the streamer’s slate of fresh UK commissions. Boasting a stacked cast including Timothy Spall and Loose Women’s Denise Welch, Marbles is a multi-generational comedy seeing a couple raising “ridiculously lively” boys as well as caring for their “ridiculously difficult” ageing parents.<\/p>\n

Also starring Utopia star Alexandra Roach, Peep Show’s Robert Webb and Sherlock’s Louise Brealey, Marbles is comprised of six episodes.<\/p>\n

The synopsis promises a “brilliantly-observed, laugh-out-loud” comedy about living in the middle of two generations and “slowly losing your marbles”.<\/p>\n

“How do you stop your kids from hiding your keys in a bowl of milk, or sleeping in a cardboard box, while convincing your 75 year old father to move out of your bloody house?” the synopsis also asks. “For Sam and Samantha, this is their life. It’s a glorious mess. And it’s about to get messier.”<\/p>\n

Welch shared her excitement for the show on Instagram, writing<\/a>: “Thrilled about this one!!”<\/p>\n

Fans were also quick to share their eagerness to watch the upcoming series, with one commenting<\/a> on Instagram: “Anything Robert Popper does, I will watch.” <\/p>\n

Another wrote<\/a>: “Guaranteed delight. It will be another great addition to his superb lineup of shows! I Hate You, Friday Night Dinner, Look Around You!”<\/p>\n

But that’s far from the only exciting thing coming up on Netflix.<\/p>\n

The streamer also announced today that it’s working on a new six-part adaptation of Roald Dahl’s short stories for adults<\/a> adapted by Brassic creator Danny Brocklehurst, also known for bringing multiple Harlan Coben novels to television.<\/p>\n

This “deliciously twisted tale” has rounded out an excellent cast, with the likes of Nicola Coughlan, Toby Jones, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West and Naomi Scott onboard.<\/p>\n

Marbles will stream on Netflix. A released date is yet to be announced.<\/strong> <\/p>\n
