A shoplifter who stole hundreds of pounds worth of steaks from Aldi and Tesco<\/a> in South Gloucestershire<\/a> has been jailed.<\/p>\n

John Iles, 46, targeted several retailers including supermarkets and convenience stores in Bradley Stoke,<\/a> Downend and Staple Hill.<\/a><\/p>\n

Avon and Somerset Police <\/a>said he also stole hundreds of pounds worth of steaks from Aldi and Tesco and has been ordered to pay compensation of varying amounts to the businesses.<\/p>\n

He was charged with nine counts of shop theft and one count of parcel theft.<\/p>\n

Iles, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 82 weeks in prison at Bristol Magistrate\u2019s Court<\/a> on Wednesday, August 12.<\/p>\n

PC James Mullin, officer in the case, said: \u201cWe welcome the custodial sentence which has been handed to Iles, who is a prolific shoplifter who shows a total disregard for his actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cShoplifting is not a victimless crime and the harm it can cause businesses and the wider community is immeasurable.<\/p>\n
