{"id":117190,"date":"2025-05-20T13:48:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/117190\/"},"modified":"2025-05-20T13:48:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-20T13:48:09","slug":"danielle-collins-admits-what-shes-found-difficult-after-beating-iga-swiatek-in-italy-that-wasnt-as-fun-as-i-imagined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/117190\/","title":{"rendered":"Danielle Collins admits what she&#8217;s found &#8216;difficult&#8217; after beating Iga Swiatek in Italy, &#8216;that wasn&#8217;t as fun as I imagined&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Danielle Collins beat Iga Swiatek for just the second time at the Italian Open after six consecutive losses.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/danielle-collins-states-what-she-wants-to-happen-with-iga-swiatek-after-more-drama-at-the-united-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collins and Swiatek have a complex relationship<\/a>, dating back to the Paris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/olympics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olympics<\/a> where they had a tense exchange on court.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Pole had dominated their head-to-head before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/danielle-collins-makes-career-history-after-knocking-iga-swiatek-out-of-the-italian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collins made career history by beating Swiatek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the breakthrough moment for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/danielle-collins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collins<\/a>, a lot of the attention has been on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/iga-swiatek-admits-the-mistake-she-made-which-caused-her-to-lose-to-danielle-collins-and-crash-out-of-the-italian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swiatek\u2019s recent mistakes<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"650\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-2213796785-1024x650.jpg\" alt=\"Italian Open 2025\" class=\"wp-image-90074\" \/>Photo by Foto Olimpik\/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesDanielle Collins admits what she\u2019s found difficult after beating Iga Swiatek<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/jim-courier-alarmed-by-one-stat-from-iga-swiateks-shock-defeat-to-danielle-collins-that-is-as-bad-as-i-have-ever-seen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collins beat Swiatek<\/a>, 6-1 7-5, ending her opponent\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/italian-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Open<\/a> title defence in convincing fashion.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>When reliving that victory over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swiatek<\/a>, Collins told the Tennis Channel that she actually was disappointed with the reaction to her win.<\/p>\n<p>Collins highlighted that she felt that people were more focussed on Swiatek\u2019s errors rather than praising herself. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought I played really well against Iga,\u201d said Collins. \u201cI didn\u2019t get a ton of credit for it after the match, of course. It was more about how poorly she played and everything.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat can make it difficult to be able to celebrate your wins sometimes, when you feel like you have a good match and are playing well and it\u2019s just like whatever.
