The Verge’s<\/a> Tom Warren, who’s been covering Microsoft and Xbox for many years, has shared his perspective on the absence of Forza Horizon 6 on PS5.<\/p>\n

Responding to a post postulating about the racer not arriving until 2027, Warren also thinks it won’t come to Sony’s console this year.<\/p>\n

The game is officially still pencilled in for 2026 on PS5, and there has been no confirmation of a delay. However, as mentioned below, there’s only a few months of 2026 left, and it is feeling less and less likely it’ll turn up before the new year.<\/p>\n

I’ve also seen it suggested elsewhere that developer Playground Games is now all-hands-on-deck for its other title, Fable<\/a>, which is scheduled for February 2027. It’s very possible the PS5 port of FH6 has been sidelined while it completes work on the fantasy RPG.<\/p>\n

Original Story:<\/strong> In January of this year, it was confirmed that Forza Horizon 6<\/a> would indeed be coming to PS5, albeit at a later date than the Xbox and PC release.<\/p>\n

We’ve been waiting ever since to learn exactly when the port would arrive; currently, the only official information is that the PS5 version is scheduled to arrive in 2026.<\/p>\n

Obviously, the amount of 2026 left is shrinking, and it’s left me wondering what’s going on.<\/p>\n

The thing is, since the announcement in January, things have changed quite a bit for Xbox, which has now recommitted<\/a> to releasing a selection of console-exclusive software, such as Gears of War: E-Day<\/a> and Clockwork Revolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It’s also now decided against showing the logos<\/a> of other platforms in trailers for multiplatform games, so it’s sort of doubling back a bit on how it had previously positioned itself.<\/p>\n

That being said, Xbox’s Matt Booty did say that it will not go back on<\/a> any previously announced PS5 ports, and indeed it did bring Halo: Campaign Evolved<\/a> to PS5 in July. Games like Forza Horizon 6 and Fable, then, are still in the works for Sony’s machine.<\/p>\n

It’s also worth noting that Forza Horizon 5<\/a> has been one of Xbox’s most successful PS5 launches, selling millions of copies since its arrival in 2025, according to analysts<\/a>. Skipping FH6 on PS5 would be leaving a significant pile of money on the table.<\/p>\n

I expect Forza Horizon 6 isn’t cancelled, but at this point in time, I start to wonder whether it’ll slip into 2027. September and October are overwhelmingly busy, November’s a GTA 6 exclusion zone, and December is never a great month to release any game.<\/p>\n

Then again, it could be one of those things where it quite suddenly gets a date, and the date is super close.<\/p>\n

It looks like Gamescom won’t be the place for any PS5 news, but there’s still Tokyo Game Show in September (Xbox has confirmed a broadcast<\/a>) and, possibly, a State of Play in which Forza Horizon 6 could pop up.<\/p>\n
