Her husband, director Robert Martin Carroll, announced that she died on May 9 in Portland, Oregon, due to complications from Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n<p>Young earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for co-writing the 1999 Showtime children\u2019s special Locked in Silence and was recognised with a Christopher Award and a Humanitas Prize nomination for her contributions to the 1992 NBC telefilm Jonathan: The Boy Nobody Wanted.<\/p>\n<p>Young received a Daytime Emmy nomination for co-writing the 1999 Showtime children\u2019s special Locked in Silence and landed a Christopher Award and a Humanitas Prize nomination for her work on the 1992 NBC telefilm Jonathan: The Boy Nobody Wanted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn her heyday, she was arguably the top writer of made-for-television movies,\u201d her husband told The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/latest\/hollywood\" data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|AutoLink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hollywood<\/a> Reporter.<\/p>\n<p>Young wrote the films The Baby-Sitters Club and Baby Luv and other telefilms, including 1983\u2019s Will There Really Be a Morning? \u2014 based on actress Frances Farmer\u2019s autobiography \u2014 2000\u2019s The Last Dance and 2002\u2019s Miss Lettie and Me.<\/p>\n<p>She also enjoyed a long career on the stage, and her most recent acting credit came in the independent film Pig (2021), starring Nicolas Cage. The film told the story of a truffle hunter who lived alone in the Oregon forest.
