A popular car boot sale in Greater Manchester has been ranked among Britain’s best.<\/p>\n

Research into 138 sites nationwide has found Bolton<\/a> Car Boot Sale<\/a> to be the sixth best.<\/p>\n

Based outside the Bolton Wanderers stadium in Horwich, just next to Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, the car boot and market now takes place every Wednesday and Sunday, with around 400 sellers a time.<\/p>\n

With May marking the busiest month for car boot searches online, the study for The AA looked at average monthly Google search volumes, average Google review scores, seller and visitor entry fees, and number of Facebook followers.<\/p>\n

Bolton’s free entry for buyers, or \u00a31 to park, helped it score an impressive 67.1 out of 100 overall, making it sixth in the list, topped by Leicester’s Croft Car Boot, which was crowned number one.<\/p>\n

Other local sites making the top 20 include Chelford Car Boot in Knutsford at number 12, East Lancs Car Boot in Tyldesley, Wigan<\/a>, at number 16 and Warrington Car Boot in Winwick at number 20.<\/p>\n

Bolton Car Boot has been running every Sunday for nine years now and last year started opening on Wednesday too to meet demand.<\/p>\n

Organiser Andy Jackson said he’s ‘not surprised’ it’s on the list of Britain’s best, particularly as it has market stalls as well as the car boot.<\/p>\n

Among the popular traders are ‘the meat man’, who is there with his big blue Nationwide Meats truck each week, and recent additions of a vegan stall and Polish bakery.<\/p>\n

“I think people are now shopping differently and looking to save wherever they can,” he said. “And people are looking to make money by selling what they can too.<\/p>\n

“We have a really good mix of about 200 car booters and 200 market stall holders selling new products, so there’s a great selection of stuff. Some people come looking for something specific and others just come for a walk about.”<\/p>\n

Andy says the other sites run by National Car Boot Sales are just as popular at Leeds and Bradford Airport, Wetherby Racecourse and Redcar Racecourse.<\/p>\n

There’s also one now at City Airport in Barton<\/a> every Saturday, with sellers welcome from 7am and buyers 9am.<\/p>\n

Bolton is open on Wednesdays from 9.30am for sellers and from 11am for buyers. Pitches cost from \u00a310. On Sundays and bank holidays, it’s open to sellers from 5.30am and to buyers from 7am.
