A man in his 70s is fighting for his life after being hit by a car in Tameside<\/a>. Emergency services descended on Huddersfield Road<\/a>, in Ashton-under-Lyne<\/a>, on Thursday afternoon (August 27).<\/p>\n Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says it was called out to a collision at around 2.40pm. It’s believed a Toyota Yaris was turning off Huddersfield Road when it hit the pedestrian.<\/p>\n He was rushed to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a life-threatening conditions this morning (Friday). Part of Huddersfield Road remained closed for hours following the incident, while an air ambulance was pictured landing nearby.<\/p>\n North West Ambulance Service said it ‘dispatched several ambulance resources to the scene’ including the air ambulance. “A patient has been transported to Salford<\/a> Royal with a serious head injury,” a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n Officers at the scene(Image: ASP)<\/p>\n Witnesses are now being urged to come forward as officers continue with their enquiries. A GMP spokesperson said: “Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.<\/p>\n “They are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV footage, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the incident.
