Wyndham Clark and Scottie Scheffler appear to be the front-runners in the race to win the Player of the Year award.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clark and Scheffler have both enjoyed terrific seasons on the PGA Tour in 2026, but for different reasons.<\/p>\n

It is surely not a debate that the two Americans have been the best players this year.<\/p>\n

Cam Young and Matt Fitzpatrick both enjoyed hot spells, but they\u2019ve been a tier just below Wyndham Clark<\/a> and Scottie Scheffler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many players have already given their take on the Player of the Year race between Clark and Scheffler<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And now Viktor Hovland<\/a> has weighed in with his opinion.<\/p>\n

Viktor Hovland on Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark\u2019s Player of the Year prospects<\/p>\n

Hovland has been speaking on the PGA Tour\u2019s Instagram account<\/a> about the 2026 Player of the Year race.<\/p>\n

And the 28-year-old Norwegian responded when asked who he believes should be handed the award this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you give the award to who has had the most career defining moments throughout the year?,\u201c Hovland said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I would definitely say Wyndham has probably done that this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Scottie has been the most consistent and played the best golf throughout the year.\u201c<\/p>\n

Much will depend on whether Scheffler is able to win the Tour Championship this week at East Lake.<\/p>\n

Still all to play for at the Tour Championship<\/p>\n

If Scheffler does manage to secure victory in Atlanta, he may well be the undisputed best player on the PGA Tour in 2026.<\/p>\n

However, if anyone but the world number one wins the Tour Championship, the Player of the Year award will surely be Clark\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Wyndham Clark has won more tournaments than Scottie Scheffler this season, including a major championship.<\/p>\n

However, the 20-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has undoubtedly been the most consistent player on the PGA Tour, with 12 top-5 finishes to his name in 19 starts.<\/p>\n

It really is all to play for at East Lake this week.<\/p>\n
