Manchester United<\/a> have \u2018made an enquiry\u2019 into the potential signing of Aston Villa defender, Ian Maatsen<\/a>, according to a journalist.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s two areas of the pitch Man Utd<\/a> intend to sign a player in over the final days of the summer transfer window \u2013 left-back and striker.<\/p>\n

The hunt for a new frontman hinges on offloading Joshua Zirkzee at the same time. Fiorentina have offered a pay \u20ac5m to loan the Dutchman, with any deal also containing an option to buy. Man Utd must now decide whether to accept or reject.<\/p>\n

The need to add a left-back stems from concerns over Luke Shaw\u2019s ability to play three games per week over a full campaign.<\/p>\n

With Man Utd back in Europe, the fixture list is far denser than it was last term.<\/p>\n

United\u2019s top target is no secret \u2013 Lewis Hall. However, Newcastle aren\u2019t selling having already waved goodbye to three of their best players this summer (Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon).<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, a signing is still wanted before the current window closes, and according to journalist, Pete O\u2019Rourke, Man Utd are looking to Villa Park.<\/p>\n

Taking to X<\/a>, he revealed Man Utd have made an enquiry into the potential signing of Aston Villa<\/a> left-back, Ian Maatsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He wrote:\u00a0\u2018Manchester United have made an enquiry for Aston Villa defender Ian Maatsen as they search to bring in a new left-back.\u2019<\/p>\n

Having sold Lucas Digne to PSG, Maatsen has started both of Villa\u2019s matches so far this season.<\/p>\n

However, Unai Emery\u2019s side have signed Matteo Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n
