{"id":1175389,"date":"2026-08-29T11:29:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T11:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1175389\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T11:29:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T11:29:19","slug":"spain-calls-morocco-cooperation-essential-seeks-e35-6m-in-eu-funding-for-ceuta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1175389\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain Calls Morocco Cooperation \u2018Essential,\u2019 Seeks \u20ac35.6M in EU Funding for Ceuta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Agadir \u2013 Spain\u2019s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has called for an end to violence in Ceuta following days of social unrest linked to the recent mass arrival of migrants, while announcing plans to seek \u20ac35.6 million in European funding for additional border infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking before the Interior Committee of the Congress of Deputies on Friday, Grande-Marlaska said the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/08\/336349\/ceuta-police-charge-protesters-after-residents-target-migrants\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">requested<\/a> funding would finance the extension of border breakwaters at El Tarajal and Benz\u00fa, alongside other \u201cextraordinary\u201d structural measures aimed at preventing future mass entries similar to the one recorded on July 30.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also praised what he described as Morocco\u2019s \u201ceffective\u201d cooperation in managing the migration situation.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks came after several days of growing tensions in the occupied city, where some residents staged protests over the presence of migrants in public spaces and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2026\/08\/336311\/spain-approves-e25-million-to-support-migrant-children-in-ceuta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">attempted<\/a> to disrupt the distribution of food.
