village towns.<\/p>\n<p>The weather is mild but changeable year-round, dipping to lows of 2 degrees in winter and surging to highs of 22 degrees in summer.<\/p>\n<p>It encompasses large parts of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, where detached homes sold for an average of \u00a3593,618 ($1.1 million) and \u00a3693,225 ($1.3 million) respectively over the last year, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightmove.co.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\">rightmove.co.uk.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A row of Cotswold _7475dd3391ee1518\" style=\"--text-color:var(--color-text-secondary)\">The Cotswolds are known for its cute stone cottages, but we doubt Harry and Meghan will be setting up in one of these.\u00a0Susan Standen<\/p>\n<p>It also encompasses parts of Wiltshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Warwickshire, where the average cost of a detached home can range from $910,000 to $1 million.<\/p>\n<p>There are very affluent areas in the Cotswolds where Harry and Meghan may choose to settle for the foreseeable future, though there\u2019s no guarantee they\u2019ll purchase a home outright.<\/p>\n<p>The Sussexes are holding on to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/lifestyle\/royals\/harry-and-meghans-home-inside-montecito-mansion-pictures-20250512-p5qq9w.html\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Montecito home in California<\/a> for now, so they may choose to rent a cottage, farmhouse or something more lavish while they\u2019re in the target=\"_blank\">Ellie Goulding<\/a>, Simon Cowell, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/entertainment\/ellen-degeneres\/4\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ellen DeGeneres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity\/david-victoria-beckham-brooklyn-nicola-peltz-beckham-awkward-family-run-in-20260804-p60l65.html\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">David and Victoria Beckham<\/a> have been residents for nearly a decade, and their lavish Cotswolds home was the backdrop for their 2023 Netflix documentary Beckham.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps they will bond with new neighbours Harry and Meghan over their shared experiences with the streaming giant.<\/p>\n<p>The Cotswolds are also beloved of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/topic\/royal-family-61e\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">royals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/person\/princess-beatrice-26s2\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Princess Beatrice<\/a> and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are raising their growing family in a six-bedroom home there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/person\/princess-anne-26s1\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Princess Anne<\/a> has lived at Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire for 40 years now, and her adult children Peter Phillips and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/person\/zara-tindall-26u4\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zara Tindall<\/a> also live on the estate.<\/p>\n<p><img rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The King<\/a> himself even has a residence there, Highgrove in Tetbury, which he retreats to with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/person\/queen-camilla-jh1\" class=\"sc-ZStEl fijHCo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Queen Consort Camilla<\/a> from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>All this to say, the Sussexes will be in good company in the Cotswolds.<\/p>\n<p>Not just because they\u2019ll be sharing a postcode with a number of other high-profile locals, but because the more \u2018common\u2019 residents should also be somewhat accustomed to seeing famous faces in their midst.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of celebrities have also passed through while filming TV and films in the area, from Bridget Jones\u2019 Diary, to Emma (both the 1996 and 2020 adaptations), Die Another Day, several of the original Harry Potter films, and Doctor Who.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Scenes a filming location for Prince Philip\u2019s boarding school in season two of The Crown.<\/p>\n<p>While we\u2019re not suggesting Harry and Meghan will be popping down to visit film sets with the kids, if they visit a park or pub in the Cotswolds, they probably won\u2019t have to worry about being mobbed the way they would in London.<\/p>\n<p>Nor will they have to fret about their children being singled out at school.<\/p>\n<p>Archie and Lilibet will reportedly start at a local school in September, and there are plenty of top-performing institutions in the area for Harry and Meghan to choose time.\u00a0Instagram\/@meghan<\/p>\n<p>Harry\u2019s royal cousin Zara attended Beaudesert Park School in Stroud, Gloucestershire, a private prep school that charges \u00a35160 ($9700) per term for students in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.<\/p>\n<p>If Harry and Meghan were to send Archie and Lilibet there, it would set them back about $29,000 per child, per school year.<\/p>\n<p>Zara and her brother Peter also attended Port Regis Prep School in Shaftesbury, Dorset, where Harry and Meghan could send their children for \u00a34215 ($7973) per term, per child.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Montecito home.\u00a0@meghan<\/p>\n<p>Or they could do away with royal tradition (it wouldn\u2019t be the first time) and choose a different school altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, the Sussexes are likely to guard the details of their childrens\u2019 lives and education closely to prevent security risks.<\/p>\n<p>Fiercely protective of their family and privacy, there\u2019s no doubt Harry and Meghan will be working hard to make sure wherever they settle in the Cotswolds will be decked out with security to keep themselves and their children
