Boosting an electric vehicle\u2019s driving range usually requires expensive battery pack revisions or brand-new motor architectures. However, European buyers looking at an entry-level Model 3 are getting a notable range increase without any changes to the battery underneath.<\/p>\n

The official @teslaeurope<\/a> account confirmed the updated numbers in an announcement posted on X this week, saying, \u201cModel 3 now comes with 572km of range (up from 534km previously), thanks to new tires.\u201d<\/p>\n

Follow-up posts clarified where buyers will see the updated estimates, noting that the change \u201capplies to all European LHD markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Simple Wheel and Rubber Swap<\/p>\n

The 38-kilometer increase represents a 7.1% jump in total driving range on the European WLTP test cycle. Instead of introducing a new lithium cell chemistry<\/a> or larger battery pack, the extra distance comes entirely from an updated wheel and tire package.<\/p>\n

Tesla has replaced the standard 18-inch Photon wheels on the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive with a new set of 18-inch Prismata wheels. The entry-level RWD sedan, which originally launched last fall under the “Standard” badge, now ships with these efficiency-focused tires from the factory. Even though the Prismata wheels match the outgoing Photon setup at 18 inches, the redesigned wheel aerodynamics and lower rolling-resistance rubber compound allow the electric sedan to travel further on the same amount of stored energy.<\/p>\n

Market Availability Across Europe<\/p>\n

The range upgrade applies across all European Left-Hand Drive (LHD) markets where the new 18-inch Prismata wheels are now configured by default. That includes mainland European countries such as Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, and more.<\/p>\n

However, Right-Hand Drive (RHD) markets are currently excluded. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the online configurator still lists the older 18-inch Photon wheels alongside the previous 534-kilometer (or 332-mile) range rating.<\/p>\n

This focus on rolling efficiency fits into a broader trend across Tesla\u2019s lineup.
