Family and friends and left flowers on a street in Bury<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon following the death of a teenager. The floral tributes were left on Porritt Street for the 19-year-old victim of a ‘targeted attack’ who was named locally as Brandon Kershaw.<\/p>\n

Police say they were called to reports of the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Monday evening (May 19). The incident saw Brandon die at the scene and a man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.<\/p>\n

A huge cordon was placed on Porritt Street where a blue forensic tent was erected outside a block of flats in the area. Parents taking their children to the street’s St Paul\u2019s CE Primary School were turned away as investigations took place directly outside the school.<\/p>\n

One resident, who did not want to be identified, said: \u201cIt\u2019s always worrying to see something like this at your doorstep. This place can be quite rough and there are some dodgy people around but that\u2019s like every estate.”<\/p>\n

Another neighbour added: \u201cKids come out and play here every day. It\u2019s not a good thing for them to see something like that on their doorstep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, police tape was also placed at the entrance of a local park and a side street on Huntley Mount Road near the scene.<\/p>\n

Another person said: \u201c19-years-old is such a young age. That\u2019s still a baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

One woman, who lived on Hawk Close, which was blocked off to motorists due to the crime scene said: \u201cI opened my curtains and saw this, I thought, what the heck has happened again.\u201d<\/p>\n

An elderly lady also told the M.E.N: \u201cThat\u2019s no age to die is it?”<\/p>\n

In a statement issued overnight, Greater Manchester Police<\/strong><\/a> said the teenager’s family had been informed and was being supported by officers.<\/p>\n

Manchester Evening News readers have paid tribute to Brandon on Facebook, with several writing ‘rest in peace Brandon’.<\/p>\n

One person commented: “So sad taken so young RIP Brandon xx”<\/p>\n

Another said: “RIP Brandon thinking of you and all your family and friends. Love to you all.”<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to come forward to GMP.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued overnight, Detective Superintendent Wesley Knights said: \u201cFirstly, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a truly tragic incident which has seen a young man lose his life, I would like to reassure the public that this is a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocal officers will remain in the area making enquiries, as well as an increased number of highly visible patrols overnight and into Tuesday. If you have any concerns, please speak to them.<\/p>\n
