Cameron became a triple world super-welterweight champion when she unanimously outpointed Mayer over ten absorbing rounds. Scores of 97-93, 97-93, and a closer 96-94 were reflective. Cameron leaves Birmingham with the WBC, WBA, and WBO world 154-pound titles.

Mayer needed a strong start, but it didn’t come. Cameron won the opening round, and I thought Mayer lacked her usual zip. Even that early, there were ominous signs. By her standards, she looked somewhat lethargic. I gave the American the following round, but Cameron never let her find her usual rhythm. The former undisputed world super-lightweight was boxing to orders. She was the faster fighter and the fighter who seemed to have more weight behind her punches. Mayer tried to box her way to victory, but Cameron was having the last word in most of the exchanges.

It was never easy, but Cameron was putting rounds in the bank. To have any hope of winning the decision, Mayer needed a strong finish. But it didn’t come. There seemed a lack of urgency. I just thought Mayer needed to do more. But she couldn’t, or more accurately, Cameron wouldn’t let her.

The Northampton fighter was simply superb, and despite her protests, Mayer was beaten by the better fighter on the night. There is a rematch clause in place. So we will get to see it again.

Published by FightPost: MMA & Boxing News

Since entering the world of boxing media in 2015, I have written for Behind the Gloves, Boxing Social and I am current contributing to Boxing News, alongside my work for FightPost.
View all posts by FightPost: MMA & Boxing News

   Published
29th Aug 2026

Ringside Report: Chantelle Cameron Beats Mikaela Mayer in Birmingham It wasn’t quite the war many predicted, but it…

[7820
855,748,393,4884,16,15
post-1176322","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-birmingham","tag-birmingham","tag-britain","tag-england","tag-great-britain","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom
["GET
