Two people have been arrested after an altercation with police <\/a>outside a Toby Carvery restaurant in Chadderton on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

Emergency services descended on a Toby Carvery last night<\/a> amid reports that a man had been tasered by police (Friday, August 28). The Manchester Evening News understands that a man appeared to have been running from police officers before he was tasered in the car park.<\/p>\n

The restaurant, located on Chadderton<\/a> Park, Oldham<\/a>, was closed for a short period of time after a number of police cars and an ambulance were spotted outside, witnesses said.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> (GMP) has now confirmed that a man and a woman have been arrested and remain in custody for questioning.<\/p>\n

GMP said that officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a vehicle stop at 7.45pm on Friday evening.<\/p>\n

After approaching and speaking to the driver, GMP said that he became “aggressive”, which led the officers to deploy their taser.<\/p>\n

After searching the vehicle, the driver, a man, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect.<\/p>\n

A passenger, a woman, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect and the pair remain in police custody for questioning.<\/p>\n

“At 7.45pm on Friday 28 August, officers conducted a vehicle stop after observing vehicle driving in an erratic manner,” a GMP statement reads.<\/p>\n

It continues: “Officers spoke to the driver, who then became aggressive and a taser was deployed.<\/p>\n

“Following a search of the vehicle, a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect.<\/p>\n
