Following the announcement that the upcoming TheA1200 is “an Amiga product”, Retro Games Ltd has posted a pretty historic photo from the show floor at this year’s Gamescom.<\/p>\n

“So here is a thing,” says the company on social media. “The Retro Games team out at Gamescom. The CEO of Amiga Corp with a THEA1200. The CEO of Commodore with a THEA1200. And the CEO of Amiga with the joint CEO of Retro Games with a THEA1200. No spoilers.”<\/p>\n

Original Story [Fri 21st Aug 2026, 3:30pm]:<\/strong> Retro Games Ltd has announced that its upcoming The A1200<\/a> system will benefit from Amiga branding.<\/p>\n

“The A1200 is officially an Amiga product,” says the company on Facebook<\/a>, before adding:<\/p>\n

“The Amiga name has a new chapter. With the recent announcement from Mike Battilana and the Amiga Corporation, we\u2019re delighted to see the Amiga brand move forward with a clear and unified future. We\u2019re proud to be part of that future with The A1200, bringing the Amiga experience to a new generation while celebrating everything that made the original so special.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The post references the recent agreement<\/a> that lets companies like Retro Games Ltd. and Commodore International<\/a> use the Amiga name in their products under license.<\/p>\n

The Amiga brand was separated from Commodore following the latter’s collapse in the ’90s. Since then, the rights to both brands have endured a painful journey, but it seems the circle is finally closing.<\/p>\n

Retro Games Ltd’s previous Amiga-based system, The A500 Mini<\/a>, wasn’t able to use the Amiga name.<\/p>\n
