{"id":1177121,"date":"2026-08-30T11:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T11:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1177121\/"},"modified":"2026-08-30T11:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T11:26:15","slug":"young-cancer-survivor-from-glasgow-leads-inspirational-walk-through-home-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1177121\/","title":{"rendered":"Young cancer survivor from Glasgow leads inspirational walk through home city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A young woman from Glasgow saved from a rare cancer after a stem cell transplant has led an inspirational night time walk through her home city.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grace Callaghan, 21, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 16 after discovering a lump on her stomach.<\/p>\n<p>She had surgery three times and chemotherapy treatment over several years before getting the all clear.<\/p>\n<p>Grace, from Cathcart, was guest of honour at Cancer Research UK\u2019s Shine Night Walk and sounded the horn at the SEC on Saturday to send more than 1,740 participants on the half marathon and 10k courses.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cI\u2019m proud to be at Shine to cheer everyone on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCancer changed everything for me. It came into my life at just 16, created chaos, scared me so much and left me with side effects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to grow up quickly and it felt like there was no room left for me to be an ordinary teenager anymore.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/c5c552948ffd57809b5b37f9a5e45b91-1788085204.jpg\" width=\"828\" height=\"1347\"   alt=\"Grace Callaghan had to go through gruelling rounds of chemotherapy over several years\"\/>Cancer Research UKGrace Callaghan had to go through gruelling rounds of chemotherapy over several years Cancer Research UK<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt opened my eyes up to a lot of things in the world but it also made me realise how strong I truly was.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope by sharing my story I can support those going through the disease right now.
