<\/p>\nSeven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby was found dead at a Sheffield property. <\/p>\n
Officers from South Yorkshire Police were called to an address in the Wincobank area of the city just before 6am over concerns for the safety of an infant.<\/p>\n
Emergency services attended a property on Holywell Heights in the north east of the city, where the baby was found. <\/p>\n
Sadly, despite the best effort of paramedics, the infant was declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight said: “We are aware news of this will be deeply concerning, and I want to reassure our local communities that we have a dedicated team of detectives and officers hard at work to ensure justice is secured for the baby girl at the heart of this investigation.<\/p>\n
“As part of our investigation, seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All of them remain in police custody at this time. <\/p>\n
“We are working to determine the ages of some of those arrested.<\/p>\n
“Our investigation is in its early stages, and we would like to remind people to avoid speculating about this incident.”<\/p>\n

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said : “Anyone with any information about this incident which could assist our investigation is asked to contact online or call us on 101, quoting incident number 194 of August 30 2026.<\/p>\n
