Evita Too takes on the unbelievable yet true story of Isabel Perón—the actual first female president in world history— whose legacy has been entirely erased, overshadowed by both her husband’s shadow and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s historically shaky musical.

What makes the performance work so well is how it balances madcap entertainment with genuine substance. The show is as autobiographical as it is biographical; the duo introduce themselves openly, drawing parallels between Isabel’s life, their own personal journeys, and the wider struggle of women to be remembered. It is a show that asks tough questions about who history chooses to document, who gets forgotten, and who truly deserves a legacy.

The lengths to which they went to uncover the truth are extraordinary. Video footage of their real-life journey through Argentina and Spain—culminating in an attempt to track down the still-living Isabel in Madrid—gives the evening an unexpected, deeply moving weight. At times, the history is so absurd you suspect they must be making it up, yet every wild revelation is backed by meticulous research.

Filled with relentless humour, clever visual bits, and great songs, Evita Too is a riotous, vital piece of theatre that stands out as one of the true highlights of the festival—informative, hilarious, and profoundly important.

Runs until 30 August 2026 | Image: Contributed

   The Reviews Hub Star Rating

    100%

   Unbelievable True Story

Director: Ursula Martinez Writers: Rebecca Biscuit and Louise Mothersole Original Music and Songs: Sh!t Theatre Leaving their audience…

[8816
748,1102,31356,56777,319200,307142,4884,319201,319202,6080,712,319203,16,15,319204,314455
post-1177802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-edinburgh","tag-britain","tag-edinburgh","tag-edinburgh-festival-fringe","tag-edinburgh-fringe","tag-evita-too","tag-fringe-2026","tag-great-britain","tag-louise-mothersole","tag-rebecca-biscuit","tag-review","tag-scotland","tag-sht-theatre","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-ursula-martinez","tag-zoo-southside
["GET
