A man has been attacked<\/a> by two men who stole his scarf and left him with a “serious injury” near a popular Glasgow west end bar.<\/p>\n On Saturday, May 17, a 27-year-old man was approached by two men who robbed him of his scarf and assaulted<\/a> him on Vinicombe Street near to Byres Road at around 11.10pm.<\/p>\n The man was rushed to hospital for treatment following the incident near to Hillhead Bookclub. Police Scotland <\/a>are now appealing to witnesses for information.<\/p>\n The first suspect<\/a> is described as a white man, in his mid-20s, of slim build, wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.<\/p>\n The second suspect<\/a> is described as a white man, in his mid-20s, of broad build, with a full leg tattoo and an arm tattoo. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt and black shorts.<\/p>\n Constable Vhari McClements said: \u201cThis was an unprovoked attack<\/a> and left the victim with a serious injury. Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.<\/p>\n \u201cWe also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dash-cam<\/a> footage to come forward.\u201d<\/p>\n Anyone with information<\/a> is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 4536 of Saturday, 17 May, 2025. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.<\/p>\n The incident happened on the same day in which Celtic fans celebrated their team lifting the Scottish Premiership<\/a> trophy.<\/p>\n After Brendan Rodgers’<\/a> side were presented with the trophy following a 1-1 draw with St Mirren, thousands of Hoops supporters descended on Glasgow’s Merchant City and Trongate on Saturday for celebrations.<\/p>\n Police Scotland confirmed earlier today that 20 people<\/a> have now been arrested in relation to disorder caused in the Glasgow Cross and Trongate areas.<\/p>\n Alongside this, 17 people have been charged<\/a> and four have been reported in connection with offences, including being in possession of pyrotechnics or offensive weapons, assault and public order.<\/p>\n The force confirmed that enquiries<\/a> remain ongoing.<\/p>\n On Sunday, we reported that a significant amount of alcohol and pyrotechnics were also pro-actively seized by officers before, during and after the match and from people at the gathering<\/a>.<\/p>\n Videos online showed fights<\/a> breaking out in the gathering crowds as fans were spotted scaling traffic lights and the famous Mercat Cross, as well as Merchant City signs in the area.<\/p>\n A heated altercation also unfolded in George Square in the city centre on Saturday morning as Hoops fans heading to Celtic Park<\/a> collided with the Orange Order’s VE Day 80th anniversary parade.<\/p>\n Footage emerged showing objects being thrown between the crowds.
