Well, they will have to wait some time,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">\u201cAfter months of touring the UK in the run-up to our hugely successful local election campaign I will resume travelling the country next week as Reform moves to the next stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">\u201cMeanwhile I am having my first overseas break for three years, the jungle excepted. Well I say break \u2026 plenty of articles and fundraising calls!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">In 2023 Farage went to the jungle in Australia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2023\/dec\/10\/nigel-farage-finishes-third-in-im-a-celebrity-get-me-out-of-here\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to take part<\/a> in the ITV reality TV show I\u2019m a Celebrity \u2026 Get Me Out of Here! Since becoming the MP for Clacton last year, Farage has taken a number of overseas trips which were not entirely for parliamentary work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/mar\/20\/nigel-farage-to-give-speech-at-25000-ticket-trump-fundraiser-in-florida?CMP=share_btn_url\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has made at least<\/a> nine trips abroad, including eight to the US, since last year\u2019s general election, with many of them either funded by donors or undertaken for paid employment such as speeches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">These included a visit to the US in support of Donald Trump in August last year where flights and accommodation for Farage and one staffer cost nearly \u00a333,000, and a \u00a327,000 trip to attend Trump\u2019s inauguration in January this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">His holiday takes place while the Commons is sitting, despite the fact that the chamber goes into recess from Thursday, and does not sit all of next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">On Tuesday, MPs debated a statement from Keir Starmer on the UK\u2019s negotiations with the EU on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2025\/may\/19\/keir-starmer-uk-eu-reset-deal-win-win\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series of Brexit-related changes<\/a> to border checks, fishing and defence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">Farage used X to call this \u201ca surrender agreement\u201d, but his deputy, Richard Tice, spoke in the Commons for the party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-16w5gq9\">A Guardian analysis in March <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/mar\/20\/nigel-farage-to-give-speech-at-25000-ticket-trump-fundraiser-in-florida?CMP=share_btn_url\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found that<\/a> by that point, Farage had spent more than 800 hours on outside employment since being elected as an MP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nigel Farage missed the parliamentary debate on the biggest reset to Brexit since the referendum because he is&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":117845,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5226],"tags":[802,748,2000,299,5187,1699,4884,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-117844","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-brexit","8":"tag-brexit","9":"tag-britain","10":"tag-eu","11":"tag-europe","12":"tag-european","13":"tag-european-union","14":"tag-great-britain","15":"tag-uk","16":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114541815643459719","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/117844","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=117844"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/117844\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/117845"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=117844"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=117844"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=117844"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
