The queues at Dishoom are now as essential a London\u00a0experience\u00a0as a ride on the tube. Diners often wait for up to an hour at the branches in King\u2019s Cross and\u00a0Covent Garden<\/a>\u00a0in order to get a taste of the restaurant\u2019s biryanis, bhel and bhaji. But if queues aren\u2019t your thing, the good news is that Dishoom is opening more and more outlets across the city to choose from.<\/p>\n

The newest of those outlets is set to be on the South Bank. Soon, the\u00a0Mumbai-inspired\u00a0chain will take over the former home of Las Iguanas, next to the Royal Festival Hall. And a planning\u00a0application\u00a0to Lambeth Council shows that it wants to make a few changes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dishoom\u2019s\u00a0application includes a proposal to erect a verandah structure with a retractable roof and openable sides over an existing outdoor seating area, to make it \u2018sleeker\u2019 and allow it to be usable all year round. There\u2019ll be planters wrapping around the area to give it a clear boundary and separate it from pedestrians.\u00a0Dishoom is also seeking\u00a0permission to install a glazed ramp to\u00a0link the pavilion to the main restaurant.<\/p>\n

If approved, the development is expected to cost up to \u00a32m and be complete by October 10 this year. However, it\u2019s not yet clear when\u00a0a new Dishoom\u00a0could actually open for business.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new outpost comes not long after Dishoom revealed it would be opening another branch at the Grade II-listed Hop Exchange in Borough<\/a>. It will be its\u00a0eighth London restaurant and 12th overall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
