Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley will star in a new murder mystery Prime Video<\/a> TV series, it has been confirmed. Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone<\/a> will be adapted from the book of the same name, which was written by Benjamin Stevenson.<\/p>\n

Set deep in the mountains of Vermont\u2019s Northeast Kingdom, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone follows Ern Cunningham, a mystery-writing expert who reluctantly attends a family reunion to welcome his brother Michael home from prison, whom he’d also helped convict.<\/p>\n

However, a frozen body appears amidst a snowstorm that has trapped everyone inside, and soon after, more bodies began to appear. <\/p>\n

A limited series was previously in development with HBO, but the story is now being adapted by Amazon MGM studios instead (via Deadline<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The upcoming series will be executively produced by Academy Award nominee David Hemingson, who said: “I\u2019m thrilled to be partnered with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories in bringing Ben\u2019s heartfelt and darkly hilarious whodunit to life.<\/p>\n

“And we are so lucky to have Penn as our lead. I can\u2019t think of any actor better suited to bring Ern\u2019s intensity, brilliance and hilariously dry sense of humour to life.”<\/p>\n

Of course, Badgley is no stranger to starring in a murder series, as he played serial killer Joe Goldberg for five seasons of Netflix’s You<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Author Stevenson is just as thrilled with Badgley being on board, saying: “I am blown away by the vision and enthusiasm everyone has for bringing this book, and Ernest Cunningham, to the screen. Penn perfectly captures Ern\u2019s clueyness and cleverness, and David has brought bags of wit and heart to the script.<\/p>\n

“With the passion of Amazon MGM Studios, Bruna and Steve behind us we have an absolutely killer team, and I can\u2019t wait to solve a murder with them!”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM\u2019s Head of Global Television, described Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone as “a brilliantly inventive series that subverts the murder mystery genre in the most unexpected and entertaining ways”. <\/p>\n

He added: “Ben created a world that is darkly funny and wickedly clever. Paired with David\u2019s sharp storytelling and Penn\u2019s magnetic presence, and with our incredible partners at Fifth Season and Made Up Stories, this series is going to be something truly special for Prime Video.”<\/p>\n

Badgley will executive produce in addition to starring, with Stevenson also executive producing. The Gossip Girl <\/a>actor is also starring in an adaptation of the novel You Deserve Each Other, alongside Meghann Fahy, set for release in early 2027.<\/p>\n
