Rockstar Games made the unusual move to debut an extended look<\/a> at GTA 6<\/a> on Netflix last week. While the video made its way onto YouTube and other sources eventually, the subscription service had dibs for six hours, and it seems that’s paid off quite nicely.<\/p>\n

Netflix’s weekly top 10 charts<\/a> show that the GTA 6 video was its most-watched title globally by some distance; it accrued 31.1 million views between 27th and 30th August.<\/p>\n

In its category \u2014 English language movie \u2014 second place went to The Whisper Man, which managed 23.2 million views. GTA 6 Extended Look also trumped the number one titles in the other categories.<\/p>\n

While it should be noted that Netflix and YouTube count views differently, Google’s video platform may ultimately prove to have an even larger view count.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, the official upload of the extended look on Rockstar’s channel has amassed 17 million views. However, there are many uploads of the footage on other channels, some of them also boasting millions or tens of millions of views.<\/p>\n

However you slice it, the extended look seems to have been a slam dunk for Rockstar. It’s amped up excitement for the game and clearly drawn the attention of a lot of people.<\/p>\n

Via Netflix, it may have raised awareness among people who had no idea it was even coming.<\/p>\n
