Are you brave enough to\u00a0come face-to-face with a vengeful mummy? This year\u2019s London Dungeon<\/a> Halloween show will bring you under the deadly curse of a loo roll-wrapped fiend \u2013 if you can stomach it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From October 17 to November 1, visitors will be transported into the spooky tale of the \u2018Curse of the Mummy\u2019<\/strong>.\u00a0Based on a terrifying true story, guests will become immersed in 1880s London across three theatrical shows.\u00a0Actors playing real historical figures, including the Victorian clairvoyant Madame Helena Blavatsky, will help guests uncover the chilling truth behind the tale \u2013 and find out why some tombs are best left undisturbed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Why is the London Dungeon doing a thing about mummies? Well, during the Victorian era, the city\u2019s elite was throwing its money into Egyptomania and started importing Egyptian mummies to the capital. According to myth, trouble began when four young English travellers took home the \u2018Unlucky Mummy\u2019 after visiting the mummy pits of Deir el-Bahri in Egypt.<\/p>\n

The travellers\u2019 fates were sealed after crossing paths with the cursed corpse, and disaster followed. One was accidentally shot and lost his arm, another suffered financial ruin, while others died in poverty or mysteriously disappeared. As each owner rid themselves of the body, the next was doomed to a treacherous fate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, the London Dungeon brought in Dracula for a blood-curdling Halloween adventure. Eerie soundscapes and decaying graveyards made for the backdrop of a thrilling gothic tale, complete with Dracula himself. The year before was centred around a s\u00e9ance, with levitations and live actors giving visitors a taste of the occult.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Catherine Pritchard, general manager for the London Dungeon said about \u2018Curse of the Mummy\u2019: \u2018This Halloween, it\u2019s a curse we’re up against. The Curse of the Mummy has been blamed for ruination and death so naturally, we thought let’s bring it to the London Dungeon this Halloween.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2018Guests will come face to face with Victorian London’s darkest obsession \u2013 ancient Egypt, the occult, and a mummy that really doesn\u2019t like being disturbed. You\u2019ll be so scared you\u2019ll want your mummy!\u2019<\/p>\n
