Tiger Woods is one of the two greatest golfers ever to have played the game alongside Jack Nicklaus, but Scottie Scheffler now has his sights set on one of the 15-time major champion\u2019s all-time records.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Woods won 82 times on the PGA Tour, while Scheffler has 22 victories to his name so far.<\/p>\n

The 50-year-old is a huge admirer of the four-time major champion\u2019s game, and it\u2019s little wonder, given his domination of the sport since 2022.<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler<\/a> may not be on the same level as Tiger Woods<\/a> was in his prime, but he\u2019s certainly on the right trajectory.<\/p>\n

Comparisons have often been made between Scheffler and Woods<\/a>, mainly because of the drive, hunger and fierce competitiveness that they both possess.<\/p>\n

The current world number one is actually hunting down one of Woods\u2019 most impressive career records.<\/p>\n

When Scottie Scheffler can surpass Tiger Woods\u2019 world rankings record<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that the 30-year-old from Dallas, Texas, will go down as one of the greatest golfers of all time when he retires.<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s on track to do something that was unthinkable before he burst onto the scene.<\/p>\n

He has currently been world number one for 172 consecutive weeks.<\/p>\n

If Scheffler is still world number one on the 15th October 2028, he will have been at the top of the pile for 282 consecutive weeks.<\/p>\n

Woods\u2019 record of consecutive weeks as world number one stands at 281 weeks, from 12th June 2005 through to 30th October 2010.<\/p>\n

The gap between Scheffler and world number two Rory McIlroy in the rankings is greater than the one between the Northern Irishman and the bottom ranked player in professional golf.<\/p>\n

So there is a good chance that the 30-year-old Texan will still be world number one in two years\u2019 time, even if he plays average golf over the next two seasons.<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler\u2019s pursuit of Tiger Woods\u2019 all-time world No.1 record<\/p>\n

While the consecutive weeks record should be attainable for Scheffler, Woods\u2019 record of total weeks spent as world No.1 will be harder to beat.<\/p>\n

The 15-time major champion spent 683 weeks in total as the number one ranked golfer in the world.<\/p>\n

Scheffler has currently been world number one for 207 weeks in total.<\/p>\n

That means that the earliest possible date that the Texan will be able to overtake Woods\u2019 record will be in October 2035!<\/p>\n

Scheffler will be 39 then, so there\u2019s a chance that he will be able to maintain his current form over the next nine years.<\/p>\n

However, it will obviously be incredibly difficult for him to do that, as talented young players continue to emerge on the PGA Tour every single season.<\/p>\n

Of course, Woods\u2019 record of 683 weeks is a total number, so Scheffler won\u2019t have to remain at the top for the next nine years in order to beat the great man\u2019s achievement.<\/p>\n

October 2035 is just the earliest possible date that the 22-time PGA Tour winner will be able to surpass the 15-time major champion\u2019s record.<\/p>\n
