UK law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper has launched its first private wealth practice outside its home country after hiring Rachel Yao from Carey Olsen in Singapore as head of private wealth for Asia.<\/p>\n
At Carey Olsen, Yao led the firm’s trusts and private wealth practice in Asia, advising high-net-worth and ultra-high net worth individuals, families, family offices, professional trustees and private banks across the Asia-Pacific region on cross-border wealth structuring, succession planning, trusts, philanthropy and family governance matters.<\/p>\n
Her practice spans family wealth preservation, global asset allocation, trust establishment and restructuring, philanthropy, and charitable structures and foundations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Before joining Carey Olsen, Yao spent nine years with Taylor Wessing in its Shanghai and London offices, where she led the firm’s international private wealth practice in Greater China.<\/p>\n
According to Penningtons, her appointments marks a significant step in the firm’s private wealth group strategy as it seeks to expand its capabilities in one of the world’s most important and fastest-growing private wealth centres.<\/p>\n

With Yao\u2019s addition, Penningtons now has three partners in Singapore, including\u00a0Max Lim, who joined from Rajah & Tann last year<\/a>.
