\u201cThe Wailing\u201d filmmaker Na Hong-Jin\u2019s buzzed about \u201cHope\u201d is set to open in around 1,500 U.S. theaters starting Wednesday next week \u2013 the widest U.S. domestic theatrical footprint for a Korean-language film since 2019 Best Picture winner \u201cParasite\u201d.<\/p>\n

The film will also screen in early access showings on September 7 across several premium large-format setups. Presales are said to be strong in multiple markets. Sony Screen Gems and Spyglass are reportedly developing a reimagining of the Japanese horror film \u201cPulse\u201d with Dave Boyle (\u201cNever After Dark\u201d) attached to direct and co-write with Luke Piotrowski. Parker Finn and Jonathan Fass are set to produce.<\/p>\n

The original Kiyoshi Kurosawa 2001 film is a techno-horror about a group of young people in Tokyo who begin to experience strange phenomena involving missing co-workers and friends, technological breakdown, and a mysterious website. Following its screening at this morning\u2019s State of Play event, Sony Pictures has released the official clip from \u201cWeapons\u201d director Zach Cregger\u2019s new film take on the \u201cResident Evil\u201d franchise opening September 18th.<\/p>\n
