Final Fantasy 7 Revelation\u2019s<\/a> physical edition will \u201crequire<\/a>\u201d an Internet connection to play.<\/p>\n

Unlike its predecessor Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth<\/a>, which famously shipped on two discs<\/a>, the latest game will be available on a single Blu-ray only.<\/p>\n

A disclaimer from publisher Square Enix<\/a> reads: \u201cAn internet connection is required to download additional game data in order to play the physical version of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Final<\/a>Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth famously promoted its two discs<\/p>\n

It should be stressed in the current climate that this is true across all platforms: Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 will require downloads too.<\/p>\n

The game will take up around 130GB on Nintendo\u2019s machine, so expect a similar number on the PS5 \u2013 perhaps even more when you account for higher resolution assets et al.<\/p>\n

The reason for the mandatory download is because there\u2019s simply not enough room on a single disc to include the full game, so you\u2019ll be required to download additional data from the Internet in order to play the game.<\/p>\n

Two physical versions will be available at launch: a standard edition and a Deluxe Edition.<\/p>\n

Specially marked day one copies will come with an exclusive Magic the Gathering card, while the Deluxe Edition will also bundle in a physical soundtrack, physical art book, and steelbook case.<\/p>\n
