\n An appeal has been lodged into plans to build 355 homes on green belt land in Walsall.\n <\/p>\n

The proposal for Stonnall Road will now be decided by a government planning inspector.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Applicant Ashberry Strategic Land Ltd submitted the appeal against Walsall Council on the grounds of non-determination.\u00a0The 14.1 hectare site stretches over agricultural fields in Aldridge between Stonnall Road up to Lazy Hill Road. \u00a0<\/p>\n

If approved, the new estate, described as a \u2018natural extension to Aldridge\u2019, will be accessed by two points off Stonnall Road.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The site is currently green belt but it was allocated for 363 houses by the previous Conservative administration in the Walsall Borough Local Plan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The site remains allocated for housing in the latest draft plan created by Reform.\u00a0Ashberry Strategic Ltd says 142 of the total number of homes will be classed as affordable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The plans state that all existing trees and hedgerows will be retained \u2018where possible\u2019, and that 3.7 hectares of public open space will also be delivered.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Parties currently have until October 1 to submit representations for the appeal before a final decision is made at inquiry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An appeal has been lodged into plans to build 355 homes on green belt land in Walsall.
