Liverpool<\/strong> will hope to finally gain three points in the new season at Portman Road<\/strong> on Friday, following two disappointing draws from their opening two Premier League<\/strong> matches against Newcastle<\/strong> and Nottingham Forest<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n

The Tractor Boys, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from their 5-2 loss to Manchester United<\/strong> last weekend, which followed an opening day victory at home to R\u00e9gis Le Bris’ Sunderland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Andoni Iraola<\/strong> and his men will feel optimistic despite many fans feeling deflated following the lack of activity in the transfer market towards the end of the window.<\/p>\n

We should hopefully be treated to an enthralling matchup, with both sides feeling as if they have a statement to make in their own right.<\/p>\n

Ipswich –<\/p>\n

Gary O’Neil’s<\/strong> side have a number of players out due to injury, such as Jack Taylor<\/strong> and Azor Matusiwa<\/strong>, who are both unavailable for Friday’s clash.<\/p>\n

Florentino Luis<\/strong> is a doubt to start, whilst Jaden Philogene<\/strong> edges closer to a return to action but is still unlikely to feature.<\/p>\n

New Brazilian striker Emersonn<\/strong> is expected to start following the knee strain he picked up in the first half of their match against Manchester United on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Liverpool –<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s new blockbuster signing Bradley Barcola is in contention to start<\/strong><\/a> in what would be his debut for his new club, but it is likely to be the Dutchman Cody Gakpo<\/strong> who starts on the left this time, with Victor Munoz<\/strong> expected to play on the right following his first Liverpool goal last weekend.<\/p>\n

Joe Gomez<\/strong> looks to be close to returning to the starting XI, and whilst he may not feature on Friday evening, he is expected to return to team training next week.<\/p>\n

Long-term absentees such as Conor Bradley<\/strong> and Hugo Ekitike<\/strong> remain unavailable for selection.<\/p>\n

The Ghanaian has looked bright for The Tractor Boys so far this season following his move from the struggling Leicester City<\/strong> for around \u00a320 million<\/strong> this summer.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old managed an assist in Ipswich’s previous game at Old Trafford and finds himself up against Milos Kerkez<\/strong> on the left side of a Liverpool backline that has been unreliable so far this season.<\/p>\n

His pace and quick feet could cause issues for the Hungarian, and Fatawu could provide striker Emersonn with an array of chances throughout the match.<\/p>\n

Alexander Isak –<\/p>\n

Alexander Isak<\/strong> got himself off the mark for the season with a goal against Nottingham Forest last weekend, and will be hoping to add to his tally on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The Swedish striker is yet to hit the ground running at Anfield<\/strong> following his gargantuan \u00a3125 million<\/strong> move from Newcastle<\/strong> last summer, as the 26-year-old’s debut season was hampered by a leg break against Tottenham<\/strong> last December.<\/p>\n

Liverpool fans across the world will be hoping that his goal last weekend is a sign of new beginnings for Isak in a red shirt, and that he can continue his goalscoring form into gameweek three.<\/p>\n
