{"id":1185807,"date":"2026-09-04T09:59:19","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T09:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1185807\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T09:59:19","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T09:59:19","slug":"lady-anwar-inspires-next-generation-of-lawyers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/1185807\/","title":{"rendered":"Lady Anwar inspires next generation of lawyers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/John Bett (Dean) - SP Anwar - Stephen Vallance (past Dean).jpg\" alt=\"Lady Anwar inspires next generation of lawyers\" class=\"w-100\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-0\">John Bett, Lady Anwar and Stephen Vallance<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow (RFPG) has paid tribute to Lady Anwar as she begins her new role as a senator of the College of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Lady Anwar was appointed as a part-time sheriff in 2011 and as a sheriff at Glasgow Sheriff Court in 2014 where she was a designated family law and commercial law sheriff.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, she has been instrumental in working with Faculty members to listen to their \u201cconcerns and suggestions\u201d, while embracing change within the court system. As sheriff principal, she led many notable improvements including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The use of laptops in cells and digital recording in all court rooms<\/li>\n<li>The introduction of Summary Case Management<\/li>\n<li>The appointment of specialist sheriffs in family\/AWI\/crime\/referrals<\/li>\n<li>The introduction of an AWI checklist, leading to an all-Scotland Practice Note<\/li>\n<li>The creation of a civil court liaison group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RFPG Dean John Bett paid tribute to her, saying: \u201cLady Anwar demonstrated, both as sheriff principal and in leading the Sheriff Appeal Court, not just sound, legal judgment, but also an ability to connect with people and navigate the demands of judicial leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bett added: \u201cLady Anwar\u2019s elevation to senator is clearly well deserved. She has overcome challenges that many of us will never fully appreciate, never mind experience.
