Liverpool<\/a> striker Darwin Nunez<\/a> has reached a verbal agreement to join Atletico Madrid<\/a> this summer, according to reports in Spain.<\/p>\n

The Uruguay international has struggled for playing time under Arne Slot<\/a> this season, starting just eight games in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Liverpool are open to cashing in on Nunez in the summer transfer window but face a tough task in recouping their initial \u00a364 million outlay on the 25-year-old.<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s deal to sign Nunez from Benfica in 2022 is worth \u00a385m in total after add-ons.<\/p>\n

According to Cadena SER<\/a>, Atletico have already spoken with Nunez and the Liverpool striker \u2018has made it clear\u2019 that he wants to join Diego Simeone\u2019s side this summer.<\/p>\n

The report adds that \u2018everything has been discussed with the player\u2019 and the only remaining issue for Atletico is to negotiate a transfer fee with Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Atletico are not the only club in for Nunez as Napoli have also made an approach. The Uruguayan forward also has the chance to join the Saudi Pro League.<\/p>\n

Liverpool, meanwhile, are on the verge of completing their first summer signing as Jeremie Frimpong completed his medical on Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old, who has a \u20ac35m (\u00a329.5m) release clause in his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, is Liverpool\u2019s first-choice candidate to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.<\/p>\n

The Premier League champions are also in talks to sign Bournemouth<\/a>\u00a0left-back Milos Kerkez.<\/p>\n
