Nigel Farage today attempted to laugh off a series of hecklers and protesters as the Reform UK leader delivered the keynote speech at the party’s conference in Birmingham this afternoon.<\/p>\n

Mr Farage’s speech was initially delayed due to what he told delegates was a ‘security alert’, adding: “I\u2019m sorry we were delayed, it was a security alert and I was told, for security reasons, I couldn\u2019t take the stage. That\u2019s why we had a delay.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I decided instead to come among you and sing and dance, and it worked out pretty well I think in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moments after embarking on his speech he was immediately interrupted by two protesters. Two women stood up and held a banner which read: “Reform works for billionaires.\u201d<\/p>\n

They were booed by audience members who shouted \u201cout\u201d before they were removed by security. Mr Farage said: \u201cWe\u2019ve got a screamer.\u201d<\/p>\n

He resumed but then more protesters were thrown out. Two were removed in separate incidents prompting Mr Farage to tell the delegates: \u201cBoring.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also joked ticket prices could be raised next year to weed out protesters. Moments later another protester was thrown out.<\/p>\n

Earlier Mr Farage dismissed suggestions that Reform UK had previously taken disguised foreign donations as \u201cloose pub talk\u201d that \u201csimply were not true\u201d as he sought to move on from allegations about the party\u2019s finances.<\/p>\n

Reform\u2019s head of policy James Orr and long-serving Farage aide Dan Jukes have stepped down and the party has launched an investigation following allegations they breached political donation rules by having polling paid for by an overseas company.<\/p>\n

Accepting donations from a foreign company, including donations in kind such as polling, could constitute a criminal offence, and the party has been reported to the police.<\/p>\n
