“All cars will need to be removed from the site to allow Network Rail teams to install temporary netting to the underside of the concrete decks of the structure. That\u2019s because in recent weeks some ceiling material has deteriorated and could become loose. As a precautionary measure the protective netting is being installed. It will take up to three weeks and once complete the car park can reopen.”<\/p>\n
A road closure is in place between Store Street and Travis Street for scaffolding and will remain in place for seven days.<\/p>\n

Margaret Edge, Manchester Piccadilly station manager for Network Rail, said: “We’re sorry to passengers and station users for the short-notice closure of Manchester Piccadilly’s long-stay car park while we carry out these temporary measures to the ceilings inside.<\/p>\n
“We appreciate this will be disruptive for people and we will be working as fast as we can to install the netting and getting the car park back into use. I’d urge anyone with pre-booked parking to contact APCOA directly about their booking.”<\/p>\n
The short-stay car park and taxi rank on Fairfield Street is unaffected and will remain open as usual.<\/p>\n
Pre-booked disabled parking is not affected by the closure, but spaces will be accessed via Ducie Street instead of through the multi-story car park.<\/p>\n
