\n\tBerlin-based sales agency M-Appeal<\/a> has sold New York erotic tale \u201cDrunken Noodles,\u201d which premiered in the Cannes ACID sidebar and is competing for the Queer Palm, to Taiwan, France and Germany.<\/p>\n

\n\tTaiwan\u2019s Hooray Films acquired the film by Argentine director Lucio Castro<\/a> (\u201cEnd of the Century,\u201d \u201cAfter This Death\u201d), which explores \u201cthe relationship between art and everyday, life-altering connections.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI loved Castro\u2019s \u2018End of the Century\u2019 and I am glad that he steps further for \u2018Drunken Noodles\u2019 aesthetically and narratively. I am proud to introduce this gem to Taiwanese audiences,\u201d said Han T. Sun, founder and CEO of Hooray Films.<\/p>\n

\n\tSalzgeber has acquired the rights for Germany, and Outplay Films will release the film in France.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe filmmaker crafts each shot like embroidery \u2014 meticulous, refined, like a work of art patiently stitched. The film captivates us with its softness and its constant emphasis on desire, drifting between reality and dreamlike fantasy,\u201d added Thibaut Foug\u00e8res, general manager of Outplay.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was bought by Strand Releasing for North America, it was previously announced. U.K. distribution is currently in negotiation.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDrunken Noodles\u201d follows Adnan, a young art student, who arrives in New York City to apartment-sit for the summer. He begins interning at a gallery where an unconventional older artist he once encountered is being exhibited. As moments from his past and present begin to intertwine, a series of encounters \u2014 both artistic and erotic \u2014 open cracks in his everyday reality.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film was inspired by Sal Salandra, a real-life artist in his late 70s, who creates \u201cthread paintings\u201d depicting sexual scenes.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is shot by Barton Cortright (\u201cThe Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed,\u201d Cannes Directors\u2019 Fortnight, 2024), and stars Laith Khalifeh in the main role. Ezriel Kornel, Matthew Risch and Jo\u00e9l Isaac also star.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Castro and Cortright under their Alsina 427 banner, with co-producers Joanne Lee and Julia Bloch, and executive producer Pierce Varous of Nice Dissolve.<\/p>\n

\n\tCastro\u2019s most recent feature, \u201cAfter This Death,\u201d starring M\u00eda Maestro, Lee Pace, Rupert Friend and Gwendoline Christie, premiered earlier this year in the Berlin Film Festival\u2019s Special Gala section.
